mock zoella and Attitude

To what extent do Zoella and Attitude reflect the social and historical context of the time when they were made? [30] Dac Social and historical context refers to the stereotypes surrounded by the online media and how they are made and the historical context is about the times they are made which in both cases is modern day. With Zoella creating content in 2009 and Attitude online being created in 2016. With both being modern day examples of online media it makes them easier to relate to as it is what current audiences may be using. I think to a large extent both Zoella and Attitude reflect the social and historical context of modern day. Zoella has a youtube channel where she vlogs her life to millions of her viewers rm hauls to her everyday favourites videos. Whereas Attitude provides its gay audience a chance to relate to the content on its website.  Zoella represents a stereotypical young British girl living a lavish lifestyle with reference to the topics of her vlo...

Attitude online - initial analysis

Target audience - Male, gay and British Sans Serif font has more serious connotations. It also has more masculine properties The focal image shows a young male dancing which anchors the audience by its context with the position and what magazine it is in Colour scheme: blue, white red The basic colour scheme connotes a neutral informative, clear and easy to read structure/writing  The headline is in all capitals which catches the audience attention and the folio is in a bright green telling you what part of the website you are on  Opinion section suggests there will be personal stories  West end dancer - there is a sizeable gay audience to this, popular topic within that community Anchorage of the title is quite feminine 'struggling with my body image' from a hegemonic perspective in society women struggle with their body image  #QueerAF younger and gay target audience as there is internet slang used in the hashtag  Re...
Zoella is hyperreal construction of Zoe Sugg People with mental health issues are more likely to spend more time on the internet and more likely to watch conspiracy theories. Youtube is trying to cultivate hyper-engagement: People who spend their lives on youtube affect recommendations more Social media is hyperreal

Clickbait

Image
mentions brands to increase her revenue  Key words used  Her face is in every single one, same face - smiling and happy  Same font - handwritten cursive serif font which connotes she is laid back and non threatening  White outline suggests she is the focal image and because everyone else does it Zoella mentioned in every video  Angle of her head, gets more clicks - cute pose   The audience no longer exists. All that remains is a hyperreal construction forged by algorithms. Zoella is not targeting an audience, but is using algorithmic practise to target a theoretical machine fabricated audience.  Clickbait  - the Unknown, use of famous people and them Changing - Cheap and nasty - Audience don't know what they will click on so there is mystery to it - Audience may expect to see nudity - use of 'crazy' is an example of hyperbole - Use the stereotypes of Russia to get people to click on the link ...

The zoella apartment

Image
Zoella Apartment:  Close up shot, heavy makeup, conforming to and reinforcing hegemonic acceptable notions of female beauty. This is further reinforced by the mise en scene of the flowers, which is symbolic of femininity, purity Poppy clings to Nala in a close up shot, connoting love, affection and maternal stereotypes. Alfie in the background functions as an appeal to the young heterosexual female audience. Zoellas videos adopt a range of CU shots, providing the target audience with an intimate and inviting personal mode of address. The out of focus nature of the shot infers to the target demographic that zoella is 'real', relatable and someone who can be aspired towards. It also represents a performative element of women, in that zoella is constructed into being klutzy and cute Zoella's signature is stereotypically 'girly', with cursive, serif. handwritten style. It also strongly hints at zoellas carefully constructed immaturity. This, in combination w...
