Zeitgeist 
The defining spirit or mood of a particular period of history as shown by the ideas and beliefs of the time. 'The spirit of the time'

Godzilla 
Godzilla represents the Americans bombing Japan 
The dinosaur was used as the events were too raw only 5 years ago

Invasion of the Saucer-men
Russian spies were infiltrating American society 
Aliens are the Russians

Independence day 
global terrorism associated with the middle east
Whitehouse represents whole of America
Aliens attack first


Humans Sci-Fi conventions...
- Blue eyes
- Robots (robotic speech, power on)
- Artificial intelligence
- Synth factory, clean blue mise en scene
- Stiff performance of a robot

Why its unconventional....
- very realistic real world setting



Allegorical aspects of humans:
- Sexualisation
- Sexual exploitation
- Modern slavery
- Capitalism and the Nuclear family
- Prostitution and the rights of sex workers
- Racism


Modern Slavery 
- Female Synths used around the house, in the kitchen
- male synths picking oranges

Sexualisation in humans
 - Anita can be used as a "sex bot" with no consent needed
- Anita is stereotypically attractive 

Prostitution
- Synths had feelings that could be turned off


Humans is bringing up adult issues:
Sex Robots are currently in the process of being made legal in the UK
- They may move, talk, shout

Ethical considerations:
- A robot is a depiction/representation of a person 
- Anita is a representation of a women 
- Starts to make boundaries go down of what is right and what is wrong
- The show is also about pornography 
- Gives the idea of thats what sex is like (cultivating the idea), cultivates the ideology that its ok to be like a women

- So audience an see what they're specifically watching 


Laura meets Anita...
- Zooming slow on both Anita and Laura's face
- reverse shot
- Binary opposition - one is a robot, one is human 
- Laura is older and Anita is younger
- Anita is east asian and Laura is white
- could be related to Chinese people 
- Mise en scene, holding spray and cloth assuming shes been cleaning
