charity vs high end adverts

Image
The Dior advert uses a long shot to show  the whole room of the house as well as the woman. The main focus of the advert seems to be the luxurious house rather than the woman. The bright colours draw attention to the advert and the chandeliers have connotations of luxury, expensive and beautiful. The overall impression from the advert is the brand is going to be expensive and the target market is those who are looking to spend their money on an established, luxurious brand. The charity advert however has a much different approach. The use of the black and white makes the picture seem more dull and dismal showing the audience the real affects of this Childs life. The use of a child creates a sympathetic feeling to the audience who want to help a child in need. This advert uses a lot more text as it is educating the audience on the situation. The phrase "Look at me and tell me Greece is the problem" makes the audience question the situation of the child and how the co...

Modern Horror poster

The conjuring (2013) Mise-En-Scene: Use of long shot of the large house, suggests the house is going to be haunted due to its appearance as well as having empty rooms due to its size The use of the tree and nature has connotations of peacefulness and beauty. But it is contrasting as one of the main images of the tree is dead. This suggests the theme of death in the film as well as

Case Study - Kiss Of The Vampire poster

Image
Kiss Of The Vampire (1963) - Film Poster Use of connotative features: The font is used to show the Horror theme of the poster as well as the time the poster was created. The fact it looks old and worn fits well with the connotations of vampires being old. Blood suggests death but the colour red also has connotations of romance  The bats have connotations of gothic horror as well as the moon, the castle and the bad weather reflecting the mood Two of the characters may be in a romantic relationship as the male character seems to be holding the female, showing he has dominance over her. The other two characters shows the woman has dominance over the man which is unusual in the 1960s where males were normally dominant over the females. Element of Time: The womens clothes suggest it was the 1960s as they're wearing slip dresses which were common in those times The text also suggests its an old poster as it has a different style to mod...

Learning Conversation

What do you think has gone particularly well so far this year? What are your strengths? This year I think I have picked up the terms from media and this has helped me understand the subject more. I have enjoyed analysing adverts especially the modern ones and as i enjoy english i think that helps. What is stopping you from achieving your goals? What threats might you face, (for example not enough time, lack of organisation, pressure from other subjects...) I've missed two lessons so i need to catch up on work. I also need to make sure i have enough time for each subject and not spend most of my time just on one. Identify 3 specific targets for yourself for the rest of this year. They can be both academic and organisational goals. If i don't understand something go home and review my notes (key theories) Make sure to hand in all work on time Research more how to use photoshop What grade do you want to achieve in media studies?
